I have noticed running GDB on executable assembly programs in Ubuntu 12.x does not show symbol files . I need to look at this further to see why is this happening. I see this behavior with other users also as shown at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8109950/nasm-and-gdb-symbols-cant-find-any-code-sections-in-symbol-file
